I have been privileged to have been granted several bursaries from the Sunrise Appeal over the years allowing me to specialise in the care of patients going through radiotherapy.  Courses I have undertaken and study days and conferences I have attended have enabled me to also look after patients who have finished radiotherapy but are struggling with the consequences of treatment from months to many years later.

The Southwest Radiotherapy Late Effect Services is the first of its kind in the UK and has been commissioned throughout the whole of the South West of England.  The skills that I have gained from the courses funded by the Sunrise appeal have helped ensure that patients in Cornwall are getting the best treatment whether this is during their course of radiotherapy or many years after.  I will be forever grateful for the support and encouragement from the whole of the Sunrise Appeal, for enabling me to continue my studies and improve the way in which patients are looked after in Cornwall.
